Description
Local Highway Jurisdictions (LHJ) are charged with the responsibility to design, construct, and maintain roadways that safely move people and commerce through all modes of transportation. There is a high expectation by the public to provide exceptional service. LHJ’s provide planning, design, construction, reconstruction, maintenance, and traffic supervision for all urban streets, rural roadways, and bridges under its jurisdiction. To be a successful organization, LHJs must be organized in an effective and efficient manner that allows them to develop, manage, and sustain an operative organization. Although each LHJ is unique, most can be organized in a similar manner. When finished the participants will have the basic knowledge of the organizational structure needed for the successful operation of a Local Highway Agency.
