Description
This course is intended to introduce students to the various phases involved in the inspection of plantmix pavements, with emphasis on good workmanship.
The course will cover contract documents, surface preparation, weather considerations, and plantmix construction, which includes: hot mix production, delivery, placement, compaction and identification of problem areas.
Students should leave with the ability to go into the field to inspect a plantmix paving operation. They will know if the operation is an example of good workmanship which will result in a durable, long lasting pavement.
They should know what poor workmanship looks like and how that can lead to a pavement that doesn't perform as it was intended.
Students should be able to identify problems and then have a knowledgeable conversation with the Contractor about the operation to get any issues resolved.
