Description

The Contract Administration workshop is designed to introduce techniques that insures highway projects are successfully completed on time and within established budgets.  The goal is to identify risk in highway projects and how the highway agency can best minimize this risk for their taxpayers.  This workshop examines and discusses the basic elements of highway construction contracting and procurement processes and includes:

•Contract document generation and management, including award and execution of contracts
•Bidding and procurement processes, including bidding requirements
•Construction site conditions, including utilities and coordination of work
•Contractor’s role and responsibilities, including scheduling and permit acquisition
•Owner’s role and responsibilities, including submittal reviews and permit acquisition
•Scope and control of work, including management of change orders
•Control of material, including inspection, testing and quality control programs
•Measurement and payment of the work, including variation of quantities
•Dispute management and resolution
•Final inspection and project close out

Anyone involved in the creation, review, and management of construction contracts or procurement processes can benefit from this workshop by taking this knowledge and applying it within their agency.
